School is over!!! :)No more academics!!! But definitely a lot of learning and lot of hard work.. more than ever. Till yesterday life was all about Marks, internals, inter collegiate competitions, canteen, asking out random girls, semester exams and bunking classes etc etc. Well with a great grief i can say all that is over. Now life is all about may be achieving targets, about how fast i can grasp my responsibilities and how well i get along with my team.(These are once again assumptions since i was never exposed to this activity of life)
I first got a call from a girl with a very cute voice asking if i was siddharth srinivasan. i was in college. I was all happy since it was a cute voice and said of course I'm. :) Then she said who she was and asked me if i would be interested in the role?? I said yes no problem. My interview date and time was finalised and it was at their own office at 1pm.The office was at RMZ tech park which i have heard a lot about but have definitely not entered since there was no necessity as such. That day i had to. I was so clueless as how to enter the place because there was no watchman to open the gate for me. it were all automated glass gates where the existing employees were just swiping their cards and entering the office.
I then took help of the security and managed to enter. I see the place, the floor, it looked like a never ending stretch of cubicles and systems.
I Expected everybody to look at me and gaze coz that is how it used to be in college and school. where a new student enters and all eyes would be on him/her wondering who he is ,where he is from and the gossips used to flow like a river. Then after i saw no difference in their action i realised it was a "corporate". People do not have time for their own selves, how would they possibly have time for some unknown boy like me.I proceeded and met the HR who had given a call to me. She greeted me and then took me to a glass sound proof room and as it is the office in spite of so many people working was extraordinarily silent and now the glass room's silence was just Way too loud!!!! Silence was tearing my ear drums. And then a small brief up about the company and a brief assessment she made about me and asked me to wait for my next round.
The second round was taken by a very smart and a dude like person whose English was impeccable and the approach was a mix of a strict corporate and a friend. It went on for more than half an hour. Even there i ended up speaking about the fossil watch which my students gifted me few days ago. Even he was impressed with the watch. So i had few more rounds after that where in all the rounds my CV was ripped left and right and finally i was told " your selected when can you join??" I was really happy since it was my first professional interview which i cracked and was being inducted.
I joined on Monday where i no more had to run around to access the security gates. All i had to do was just swipe the card and the gate would open.
And on the very first day i saw few candidates who were awaiting their interview turn. I was wearing my id card the tag of whose held my company's name and i acted as if i owned the company in front of them just to show off and was directing them as if i was the contractor of the building.
Its Definitely a confidence booster when you do not slog for a good job and run around places to enter a good corporate. I realised that, all it requires to crack an interview is 20 % technical knowledge, 80 % confidence.
